Recent experience:

  • DeGrussa Solar/Battery Project (Western Australia):  Advised juwi Renewable Energy on all stages of the development of this internationally and industry-leading DeGrussa solar/battery project.  The project involves the integration of a high-level of solar power into an existing offgrid mine. The variability of the solar resource is mitigated through the deployment of batteries. The project was structured around the short known mine life. The project was funded by NEOEN, ARENA and the CEFC. 

  • Cadiz Solar Project (Philippines):  Advised Soleq Philippines (part of the Equis Funds Group) on the procurement of construction and maintenance services for the 132.5MW Cadiz solar project from Bouygues Construction and VSL.  This project will take up nearly a quarter of the allocation for solar within the feed-in tariff set by the Philippine government and is said to be largest project in South-East Asia.  The project represents the fourth project closed by Pegasus Legal for Soleq Philippines, previously also involving NARI Group and juwi Renewable Energies as contractor. 

  • Aomori Solar Project (Japan):  Advised Nippon Renewable Energy on the procurement of construction and maintenance services for the 24MW solar project from juwi-Shizen.  The project represents the fifth project closed by Pegasus Legal for Nippon Renewable Energy, previously also involving juwi-Shizen and POSCO. 

  • Cowra Biomass Project (New South Wales):  Advises CLEAN Cowra on the development of an integrated biomass project.  The project combines several processing trains in a unique manner to combine biogas, pyrolysis and torrefaction processes.  It will be based on multiple inputs and multiple outputs, with the focus being on sustainable fertiliser production rather than energy. 

  • Soleq Thailand portfolio:  Advised Soleq (part of the Equis Funds Group) on the simultaneous procurement of construction and maintenance services for a total of 91MW of solar projects across 10 sites in the Tak, Sukhothai, Khamphangphet and Ubon Ratchathani provinces of Thailand from Bouygues and from juwi Renewable Energies.  This project was the maiden investment of Equis Funds Group into the solar industry.

  • RustMo1 (South Africa):  Advised Momentous Energy on the construction contract for the RustMo1 solar farm in South Africa, a project participating in the South African REIPPP programme.  The facility was built by juwi.

Recent experience:

  • NorthConnex and M2 Integration projects (NSW):  Advised Transurban on the design and construction of a 9km, twin tunnel motorway and Hills Motorway on the widening and integration of the M2 motorway with the NorthConnex tunnel.

  • Moreton Bay Rail Link (Queensland): Advised Queensland Rail on strategic project development issues and the dual early contractor involvement (ECI) process for the procurement of the design and construction of the rail component.

  • Queen Alia Airport (Jordan): Advised the Aéroports de Paris consortium (also including Abu Dhabi Investment Company, J&P AVAX, Joannou & Paraskevaides, Noor and EDGO) in its successful bid for the concession to rehabilitate, expand and operate the Queen Alia International Airport (Middle East Transport Deal of the Year 2007).

  • Thimpu BRT (Bhutan): Advised the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Royal Government of Bhutan on project delivery structures to enable private financing of a bus rapid transit system in the capital of Bhutan.

  • DLR Capacity Enhancement and Rolling Stock Procurement Projects (England):  Advised the Docklands Light Railway on the construction of the Stratford extension, on the upgrade (in particular extension of platforms) of existing DLR routes to allow for longer trains providing greater capacity and on the procurement of rolling stock from Bombardier.

  • DBFO Package II Road Scheme (Northern Ireland): Advised project sponsor Amey Lagan Roads Limited on the design, construction and finance of three privately financed road schemes in Northern Ireland.

  • Limerick Tunnel (Ireland): Advised HBOS, MBIA and the European Investment Bank as financiers to the Limerick Tunnel (European PPP Deal of the Year 2006).

  • Luas Rolling Stock Procurement (Ireland): Advised the Rail Procurement Agency on the procurement for rolling stock for Dublin’s LUAS light rail tram system.

  • London Rail Concession (England): Advised the National Express Group in its bid for the London Rail Concession and its subsidiary Silverlink Trains on the negotiation and grant of an interim rail franchise (Silverlink).

  • CrossCity Tunnel (NSW): Advised the project company on its winning bid to design, construct, finance and operate the CrossCity Tunnel in Sydney.


Recent experience:

  • Sydney Convention Centre PPP (NSW):  Advised Brookfield Multiplex as the construction contractor to the Plenary-led bidding consortium for the redevelopment of the Sydney convention centre. 

  • Royal Liverpool Hospital PFI Project (England): Advised short-listed consortium John Laing Investments, Interserve and FCC Construcción S.A. on their bid to redevelop the Royal Liverpool Hospital in the UK.

  • University of Sydney Student Accommodation:  Advised the University of Sydney on the financing of a new student accommodation facility at their Sydney campus.

  • Pendleton Salford Social Housing PFI Project (England): Advised investment fund FHW Capital on their financing of the £82 million Pendleton Social Housing Project in England. (European Project Bond Deal of the Year 2013).

  • Dublin Criminal Courts Complex (Ireland):  Advised facilities management contractor Global Solutions Limited as operator of the newly constructed €100m Dublin Criminal Courts complex.

  • Leeds Social Housing PFI (England):  Advised the preferred bidder Sustainable Communities for Leeds comprising Lloyds Bank and the Sweett Group on the design, construction, finance and operation of the £180m Leeds Social Housing Project.

  • South West Hospital (Northern Ireland): Advised project sponsor consortium comprising Interserve, FCC Construcción S.A., Allied Irish Bank and Elliott Holdings Limited on the design, construction, finance and operation of a new acute hospital in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland.

  • Barking and Dagenham BSF (England): Advised a Laing O’Rourke-led consortium on the £80m development of secondary schools in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham under the Building Schools for the Future PFI program.

  • Edith Cowan University Student Accommodation (Western Australia):  Advised Edith Cowan University on the procurement of a new student accommodation facility in Joondalup, Western Australia.

  • Salford and Wigan BSF (England):  Advised construction contractor Laing O’Rourke on the design and construction contract for the construction of 8 secondary schools in England under the Building Schools for the Future PFI program.

  • Northern Batch Hospitals PFI (England):  Advised the project sponsor, a consortium comprising HSBC Infrastructure Investments and Balfour Beatty on the £260m design, construction, finance and operation of the Salford and Tameside Hospital PFI.
